Gastronomic experiences provide integration and interconnection between local identity and different cultures, with contexts from different millennia and historical eras. They enrich human beings with local flavours, knowledge and allow for peaceful connection and communion between peoples. It has an inherent culture of sharing, affection and solidarity, which since the beginning of time was seen as sacred in welcoming pilgrims and visitors.
The aim of Gastronomy and Food Tourism is much more than just feeding and satisfying hunger, it is to have pleasure and satisfaction through food. It is to study, explore, value and preserve the culture of a region, using creativity and innovation to create an environment that allows the awakening of the senses, stimulates sensations and appeals to positive emotions that allow physical, mental and spiritual healing. It contributes greatly to local development, to the creation of jobs, and recipes and the preservation of the heritage of local communities.
